Apple exec attending ‘Working the Web’ music conference

Peter Lowe, Apple’s director of marketing for applications and services, will be a panelist at the “Working the Web: Music, Money & Marketing” conference held by the New York Chapter of the Recording Academy. “This groundbreaking event will bring together the music and Internet’s top experts… to discuss in panel format new ways that music professionals can make use of the Internet as a marketing tool.” It takes place on Saturday, October 25, from 10:30 a.m.

Prosoft adds automation features to Data Backup

Prosoft Engineering today released Data Backup 1.2.2, an update to the company’s backup utility for Mac OS X and Classic (for Mac OS 8.6 to 9.x). The software now automates the process of backing up important files by automatically launching for each programmed action when “Automatic Triggering” is enabled, eliminating the need to have Data Backup continuously running (in OS X). Additional features include Direct Copy and Delete actions, backup with encryption, and the ability organize programmed actions into groups.
