Ambrosia Software today announced the release of Aki Mahjong Solitaire for Mac OS X, which it says is “an elegant blend of the ancient Chinese game of Mahjong with an enchanting journey across Japan. It’s a modern fusion of two ancient Asian cultures, and is as much an experience as it is a game.” Aki Mahjong Solitaire is priced at US$20 and requires Mac OS X 10.1 or later.

Analysts expect new low-cost iPods at Expo

Analysts expect Apple to unveil new, lower-cost iPods next month when Apple CEO Steve Jobs takes the stage for his keynote address at Macworld Expo in San Francisco, reports Reuters. The new iPods, which will be available in a variety of colors, will hold 400 to 800 songs and are expected to carry a price tag of about US$100.

“Motorola buying Apple — I know. I know. Apple is never going to sell out,” writes Paul La Monica of CNN/Money in his tech merger wish list. “But just think of the possibilities.” He continues, “how cool would it be if Motorola bought Apple so that Apple could completely revamp the cell phone business? Consumers, even non-Mac users, love Apple’s iPod. Imagine what Apple could do if it had the chance to design phones. Motorola also has a struggling division that makes cable set-top boxes.
