iVCD adds support for AVI, MPEG videos

Mireth Technology has released iVCD 1.1, an update to its software that lets you easily create Video CDs and Super Video CDs. Version 1.1 adds support for AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 input. (AVI requires the DivX component and may require the AC3 Codec, while MPEG-4 requires the Apple MPEG-2 Playback Components.) Also new to this release is the user selectable encoding quality feature, allowing you to reduce VCD authoring time by selecting a lower output quality. iVCD for Mac OS X sells for US$29.95.

Apple to launch iTunes for Windows October 16

Apple is expected to debut iTunes for Windows at a special event next Thursday, October 16, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. “The year’s biggest music story is about to get even bigger,” Apple said in an invitation acquired by CNET News.com. Apple has continually said that iTunes and its Music Store would be available to Windows users by the end of the year.
