iRecordNow turns iSight into digital camcorder

Boinx Software has announced the release of iRecordNow 1.0, new software that offers an easy way to use an iSight FireWire camera to record video. According to the developers, the US$14.95 product features a simple, one-button interface: “You press the record button, it starts recording, you press the button again and it stops and creates a clip file on your computer.” The format of the clips and the compression can be determined by choosing one of several predefined settings.

AquaMinds updates NoteTaker for Panther

AquaMinds Software has released NoteTaker 1.6.6, a new version of the company’s personal productivity software that brings support for Mac OS X 10.3 Panther. The update includes several Panther-only enhancements including the ability to define and re-use font styles and settings while in multi-line, paragraph text modes. NoteTaker’s paragraph formatting ruler and Create Web Notebook feature also get enhancements with this update. NoteTaker sells for US$69.95.

O’Reilly announces OS X Innovators Contest winners

O’Reilly announced the winners of the third and final round of its Mac OS X Innovators Contest at the O’Reilly Mac OS X Conference today. The contest, sponsored by the Apple Developer Connection (ADC), rewards “innovative Mac OS X applications, plug-ins, user interface widgets, or other creative original software.” In the International category, iStopMotion took top honors, while ACSLogo claimed second place.

Apple releases AirPort Software 3.2

Apple has released AirPort Software 3.2 for users with an AirPort Extreme enabled Mac or an AirPort Extreme base station. According to the release notes, the new software provides support for the Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) specification for the AirPort Extreme base station and AirPort Extreme client. Also included in this release is v5.2 of the AirPort Extreme base station firmware. The update is available via the Mac OS X Software Update preference pane.
