Teachers and principals from the Yuma, Arizona school district will be greeted with new flat-panel iMacs when they return for school next month. The district acquired 700 iMacs through a lease program with Apple, according to a Yuma Sun article. “We ended up saving about $200,000 on the deal and the beauty of the lease is that we can just turn the computers in for new ones when the lease is up,” said Darwin Stiffler, director of professional development for the district. Stiffler said he did not have a total estimate on the cost of the lease program. However, the Sun speculates that the cost of the project is close to $1 million.
