MacMinute reader Gary Allen has posted details and a number of photos of the Burlingame, California Apple Store, which will open its doors on July 26. “The interesting feature in this case is the siding — panels of sandstone that weigh 400 pounds each. They’re a medium colored, dull gray color, and present quite a different appearance from the usual bright, stainless steel metal used in the Emeryville and Walnut Creek stores here in the Bay Area,” notes Allen. “Another unique feature is the cut-out Apple logo on the side of the building, constructed from four intersecting sandstone panels. Once again, Apple has taken a rather bold step in design.”
