In other earnings news today, Iomega this afternoon posted a fourth-quarter profit of US$3.9 million, as revenues tumbled 43 percent from the year-ago quarter, from $331 million to $189.9 million. “We are focused on building upon our profitable core Zip product line and expanding our position in external CD-RW solutions in order to reverse the revenue decline,” Werner Heid, president and CEO of Iomega said in a statement. Microsoft profits decline on record revenue

Microsoft this afternoon reported second-quarter profit of US$2.28 billion, after the company took a $660 million charge to cover class-action lawsuits. Microsoft saw record revenues of $7.74 billion for the quarter, an 18 percent year-over-year increase. Microsoft also announced that it has shipped 17 million copies of Windows XP since the operating system’s launch and also sold 1.5 million Xbox consoles.
