Pacific Image Electronics Inc. has introduced the PrimeFilm 3600PRO, a professional-quality film scanner for Mac OS 8/9 featuring 3600 dpi that produces a digital image with resolution as high as 5100×3445, an automatic film loader, and both FireWire and USB 1.1 connectivity. The scanner, which comes with Adobe Photoshop Elements, sells for US$499. Mac OS X support will be added in a future update.

MacZ Software has released Project Backer 1.0.1. Project Backer is a
project backup application, which generates backup copies of your files
automatically while you are working on them. If you overwrite something you
weren’t supposed to overwrite, just go back to a copy that Project Backer
has saved for you. The app even timestamps the backup copies.
