Sonnet speeds PowerBook upgrade to 466MHz

Sonnet today introduced a 466MHz PowerPC G3 upgrade for Apple’s PowerBook 1400 series. The upgrade features 1MB of L2 cache and delivers a purported eleven-fold increase in performance over the stock 117MHz PowerPC 603e processor. The Crescendo/PB G3 466-1M is compatible with Mac OS 7.5.3 through Mac OS 9.1 and is available now for US$299.95, replacing the previous 400MHz upgrade.

Nick Hexum, frontman for the popular group 311, mentions in passing in a Hartford Advocate article that he’s also the happy owner of an iPod, as noted by reader Jason Stephens. “I had this like really intense sort of Beatles study that I’d set up for myself, where I put every Beatles album on my iPod,” Hexum told the publication when explaining his more recent influences.
