CMS Peripherals has released its 60GB Automatic Backup System Plus, a portable FireWire hard drive that automatically begins the backup procedure as soon as it is connected to the client computer. The 60GB ABSplus sells for US$799. The ABSplus is also available in capacities of 10GB, 20GB, 30GB, and 40GB with prices starting at $279.

The Intermedia Advertising Group today announced that Apple’s new iMac commercial was one of the best performing during this year’s 74th annual Oscar awards. The runaway favorite was Diet Pepsi’s Cindy Crawford spot.

Apple has introduced a new AirPort card, model M7600LL/D, which, while identical to the previous /C version, includes version 2.0.2 of the AirPort software and does not include the AirPort Card Adapter required for installing the card in slot-loading iMacs. The adapter is available separately for US$19.99.

Karelia has released Watson 1.5, a new version of its popular Mac OS X software that compliments Sherlock by providing easy search functionality for TV listings, package tracking, eBay, VersionTracker, movie tickets, dictionaries, and more. Watson sells for US$29.

SkyTag Software has released File Buddy 7, the first Mac OS X-compatible release of its popular file management utility. File Buddy sells for US$49.95; upgrades are $19.95. File Buddy 6, which is compatible with Mac OS 9 only, is still available for $39.95.
