Mac game publisher MacPlay has launched its new online store, offering its lineup of games for Mac OS 8/9 and Mac OS X. Through April 7, MacPlay is offering a special bundle, the MacPlay Six Pack, that includes Sacrifice, Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Aliens vs. Predator, Majesty, Sin, and Zork Grand Inquisitor for US$99, a fifty percent discount. In addition, the store is offering a special pre-order price of $34.99 for The Operative: No One Lives Forever, a $15 discount.

Deneba today released Canvas 8.0.3 Build 596, an updated version of its popular illustration software for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X. The new version adds improved dual monitor support, support for Mac OS X plug-ins, support for Mac OS X Twain drivers, and dozens of bug fixes. Canvas 8 sells for US$399.95.

Big Bang Solutions has released MenuMachine 1.0, an extension for Adobe GoLive 6 for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X that allows users to easily create and edit drop down hierarchical menus. The software features a full graphical editor, real-time preview, support for using both images and text, rollover support, and more. MenuMachine 1.0 sells for US$39.

Roxio has released Toast 5 Titanium 5.1.3, a new version of its CD/DVD burning software for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X, as noted by VersionTracker. The new version adds updated help documents for the French, German, and Japanese language versions and improvements in the “Check Speed” feature and erasing DVD-RW media. Toast 5 Titanium sells for US$89.95.

Industrial Light + Magic has spawned a new visual effects shop, Tweak Films, that is using a dozen Mac OS X workstations running applications such as Maya, Entropy, Shake, and Adobe Photoshop for developing visual effects for big-name films, such as Paramount’s “Clockstoppers,” according to The Hollywood Reporter, as noted by MacNN.
