Innobits has announced the release of its BitVice MPEG2 video encoder, a consumer MPEG2 software encoder for the Macintosh. The BitVice MPEG2 Encoder costs US$297 and is available from Innobits Web site. A demo version is available.

Toshiba today announced that it has developed the first notebook hard drive to fit 60GB of storage onto a two-platter hard drive, according to c|net. The engineering feat should pave the way for larger hard drives in many notebooks, although the price will begin relatively high and come down only over time.

ATI Technologies has released its March 2002 ATI Retail Update, updated Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X drivers for its line of Rage 128 and Radeon retail graphics cards, including the Radeon 8500 Mac Edition, Radeon 7000 Mac Edition, Radeon Mac Edition, and Rage 128 products such as the Orion, Nexus 128, and Xclaim VR 128. The new drivers improve performance and compatibility and fix a variety of known issues.
