Sorenson today announced the immediate availability of the Mac versions of Sorenson Squeeze for Flash MX and Sorenson Squeeze for QuickTime. The video compression products are available for US$299 individually or $499 together; Squeeze for Flash MX includes the Sorenson Spark Pro codec while Squeeze for QuickTime includes the Sorenson Video 3 codec.

Unsanity has released WindowShade X 2.0, a new version of its Mac OS X “haxie” that brings traditional Mac OS window minimizing functionality to Mac OS X. Among the new features and enhancements is the ability to minimize all windows at once and the ability to specify the window shadowing parameters of Mac OS X. WindowShade X is US$7 shareware.

Apple will release its second quarter financial results on Wednesday, April 17, after the markets close. A conference call discussing the earnings will take place at 17:30 ET and will be streamed live.

Bare Bones Software has released a minor update to Mailsmith, its robust email client for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X. Version 1.5.1 adds a number of small enhancements and bug fixes, all of which are documented here. Mailsmith 1.5 is available at the introductory price of US$69 through the end of May.

Kingston Technology has begun shipping its USB 6 in 1 Flash Card Reader, which supports CompactFlash, Memory Stick, Microdrive, MultiMediaCard, SecureDigital, and SmartMedia. The device sells for US$59.
