Proteron is offering licensed users of any ACTION utility from Power On Software a US$10 discount off the regular price of MaxMenus, the company’s flexible, customizable menu utility for Mac OS X. This offer is available until May 5; a 30-day trial version of MaxMenus is available.

SmartDisk yesterday announced a 20GB version of its ultra-portable FireFly hard drive. The drive will be available in early May for US$399 in a USB 2.0 configuration only; SmartDisk has no plans for a FireWire version. The company also offers the FireFly in a 5GB capacitiy for $199 in both USB 2.0 and FierWire configurations.

FirewireDirect today cut prices on its entire line of FireWire storage devices by up to 42 percent. New pricing is already reflected on the Web site, and includes such products as the Turbo External 40x CD-RW (US$315, a $134 reduction) and the 4-bay 360GB FX Combo RAID with 40x CD-RW ($1699, a $300 reduction).

Apple CFO Fred Anderson has filed to sell 100,000 shares of Apple, according to a Form 144 released today by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Anderson listed the sale date as April 23, with an approximate value of US$2.5 million.
