An updated Apple Knowledge Base document explains that the language updates for Mac OS X cannot be applied to Mac OS X 10.1.4. The document, which includes links to the individual 10.1.3 language updates, informs users to install these updates prior to the 10.1.4 update.

O’Reilly disects running Windows XP on a Mac using Connectix Virtual PC, comparing performance with that of an actual PC and offering tips and reasons for running XP on a Mac.

Newtek has released LightWave 3D 7.5, an upgrade to its 3D animation and video product. The new version enhances several animation tools and improves character animation tools, lighting, and rendering; details can be found here. The upgrade is available free of charge to version 7 users and for US$395 to owners of previous versions. LightWave 3D 7.5 sells for US$1,596.

Virtix today released 10 new Zoom Filters for iMovie, which give users the opportunity to add several various effects to their video. The filters can be used to zoom or crop portions of a scene, add slow-moving zoom-ins or super-fast “snap” zooms, and more. The collection sells for US$19.95. Virtix also offers the Bravo Filters collection of special effects and the Echo Transitions set of transitions.

John Brandon, Apple Computer’s Vice President of the Americas and Asia Pacific, will keynote the 10th annual Macintosh Business Expo on May 2nd at the Oregon Convention Center. The one-day event is open freely to the public. The keynote beings at 08:30 PT and the show floor will be open from 10:00 until 17:00 PT.
