Intelli Innovations has released eMail Alert! 3.0, a small application that notifies users when they have new email without requiring an email client to be constantly running. Version 3.0 has been redesigned from the ground up to support Mac OS X. eMail Alert! 3.0 is provided as US$15 shareware; it is a free upgrade for owners of any previous version.

BatChmod 1.3 is the latest version of the free utility from Renaud Boisjoly that makes it easy to modify file and folder privileges under Mac OS X. The software also features a Force Empty Trash command, useful for removing files that refuse to be deleted. Version 1.3 sports integrated Japanese and Dutch localizations as well as other minor enhancements.

Iomega has begun shipping a 40x12x48x version of its FireWire CD-RW. The US$299.95 drive comes bundled with Iomega’s HotBurn CD authoring software, which is compatible with Mac OS 8.6 and later, but not Mac OS X.

The folks at Quandir Software, based in Redondo Beach, California, let us know that Daydreamer 1.1 for Mac OS X is now available. This unique piece of software will allow users to display a picture pointed to by a URL and update it as often as you like — essentially, regular Webcam views of current pictures from a variety of sources.
