Epson updates large-format printers

Along with lowering prices (see news item below), Epson today introduced the Stylus Pro 7600 and 9600 large-format ink jet printers. The 7600 can handle paper sizes up to 24 inches wide, while the 9600 and print on paper as wide as 44 inches. Both printers feature a 2,880 x 1,440 dpi resolution, support either Epson’s UltraChrome or Photography dye inks, and are available with a variety of interfaces, including USB, FireWire, and 10/100 Ethernet.

Epson lowers ink jet prices

With a number of its rebates having expired yesterday, Epson today lowered prices on its four most popular ink jet printers in the U.S., MacMinute has learned. Although not yet reflected on Epson’s site, the low-end C60 has been reduced US$20 to $79, the Stylus Color C80 is now $30 cheaper at $149, the Stylus Photo 820 is now $99 from $149, and the Perfection 1650 Photo is $50 lower at $199. Meanwhile, dealers report that shipments of the C80, which has been in extremely tight supply during the last month, are expected to arrive in mid-May.
