Simon Jacquier has released a free patch for iPhoto 1.1.1 that enables Microsoft Entourage users to take advantage of iPhoto’s new ability to email a photo from within the application. By default, this functionality works only with Apple’s Mail application.

Sybase quietly rolled out Monday the release of Open Client and Open Server for Mac OS X, bringing the company’s enterprise-class database technology to the Mac for the first time.

Apple has once again been nominated for the prestigious British Design and Art Direction Awards, according to Macworld UK. Apple’s PowerBook G4 and iBook are nominated in the Products for Work category, while the iPod is nominatd in the Products for Health and Leisure category. Apple has previously won Gold awards from D&AD for the Pro Mouse and Cinema Display, and Silver awards for the G4 Cube, Pro Speakers, Power Mac G4, and original iBook.

Apple has launched its “Music On” promotion in Europe, which offers a significant savings when a new Mac and an iPod are purchased before June 30. The promotion offers €120 off in most European countries, with £75 off in the UK and CHF170 in Switzerland. Apple launched the promotion in the U.S. and Canada last month, offerring US$100 and C$150 discounts.
