Apple has launched yet another promotion, this time to celebrate the one-year anniversary of its first retail stores.

Microsoft announced Friday that an upcoming service pack update to Windows XP will implement changes dictated by the proposed anti-trust settlement, according to Reuters. Windows XP Service Pack 1 will allow users to easily specify with which programs documents of a certain type are opened, allowing them to quickly set their default Web browser, email application, and more. Another option will allow users to hide the icons to other applications that perform the same function.

During the past week, MacDesktops has posted 14 new pictures, including: Alien crossing (Humor), Canyonlands (Landscapes – Nature), Everything is possible (Art), Fire (Still Life Photos), Happy Mac (Logos, Mac OS), Marilyn Monroe (Portraits), and more. Meanwhile, Mandolux has posted seven new desktops: Elsa’s Shadow (vector/art), Joyhood (abstract), and five of the F-117 Nighthawk (aerospace).

Griffin Technology has updated the drivers for its iMate product for both Mac OS X and Classic. Griffin iMate 2.7 for Mac OS 9.x and Griffin iMate X 1.5 for Mac OS X are now available for download. Changes noted in both of these releases are available via the links above.

Keyspan has updated a number of its drivers today, as noted by VersionTracker. USB Twin Serial adapter 1.9, USB PDA adapter 2.5, and High Speed Serial Adapter 1.9 all improve serial communications with Keyspan’s devices.
