Amazon.com has started offering free shipping on all orders of US$49 or more. The move comes after the company began offering free shipping on orders of $99 or more in January, and is expected to pressure competitors to take up similar free shipping offers. Amazon will test the program for three to six months before it decides whether to make the policy permanent, according to c|net.

Alco Bloom has released URL Manager Pro 3.0, the latest version of his shareware bookmark manager and the first to run natively on Mac OS X. URL Manager Pro allows users to store, manage, and organize bookmarks independently, and supports Internet Explorer, Netscape, OmniWeb, Opera and iCab. URL Manager Pro costs US$25.

IDG World Expo and Xplain Corporation announced today that Macworld Expo New York will feature six special interest areas on the show floor. A new pavilion for Enterprise, Networking, and Server Solutions will join expanded Digital Media and Education pavilions, as well as MacTech Central, SciTech, and Small Business pavilions. A Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article examines Quaker Valley School District’s implementation of iBooks among 1,600 students in grades 3 through 12. Despite the need for several repairs (about 300 to date) and other hitches, the program has been received enthusiastically by students and administrators alike. Quaker Valley is one of Pennsylvania’s first Digital School Districts.
