JR Hill & Co. announces new iPod Sleeve

JR Hill & Co. today introduced the Sleeve for Apple’s iPod, which was “designed to be a simple yet stylish leather case for the iPod,” according to the company. The sleeve is made of full grain leather, and offers a detachable belt clip, nylon elastic sides, and a small strap on top to prevent the iPod from slipping out and also covers the FireWire port opening on older iPods without the plastic plug. The new Sleeve will fit the 5, 10 and 20 GB versions of the iPod, and is available now for US$39.99.

eSanta 1.0 is a freeware Mac OS X application that will allow your children to email Santa Claus without the use of the Internet. The program simulates connecting to the “Santaputer” at the North Pole with connection progress bars, and will then send your children back a customized letter that he or she can print, or use the onboard speech to speak. eSanta solves the problem of not receiving a reply email from St. Nick by formulating a response to your children each and every time. The program also displays the remaining days until Christmas.

ADC posts IP over FireWire Preview Release

Apple’s Developer Connection (ADC) has posted IP over FireWire Preview Release, new software that supports the use of TCP/IP over FireWire. “With this software installed, Macintosh computers and other devices can use existing IP protocols and services over FireWire, including AFP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, etc. In all cases, Rendezvous can be used if desired for configuration, name resolution, and discovery,” according to the ADC Web site.
