Apple files suit over leaked Power Mac G4 details

Apple today filed a civil complaint against a former contractor who allegedly posted schematic drawings, images and engineering details of the company’s latest Power Mac G4 on the Internet in July, several weeks before the product was officially announced. Dow Jones Newswires report that the complaint was filed against Jose Lopez in California Superior Court in Santa Clara County.

XtremeMac iRise ship date, price reduction and name change

XtremeMac today sent out an announcement addressing the delay in the shipment of its iRise, which was announced at Macworld Expo New York in July. The iRise, a FireWire and USB hub with an illuminated base that sits directly beneath the iMac, will now ship on December 26. XtremeMac has also elected to reduce the number of FireWire expansion ports from 4 to 2. “This lowered our costs. We are passing that savings on to you. The retail price of iRise is now $129.95.

Watson 1.6.1 adds PriceGrabber tool

Karelia Software today released Watson 1.6.1, an update to its popular Mac OS X application that provides an elegant front-end to several Web services. Version 1.6.1 a new tool that interfaces with PriceGrabber.com, the popular shopping comparison site. The release also offers minor enhancements and fixes a few bugs, including a problem that affected some users in connecting to certain Web sites. Watson sells for US$29.

Game Doctor for Mac OS X released

Inside Mac Games has released Game Doctor 2.0, a new version of its popular gaming hints application. Game Doctor is the largest collection of hints, cheats, walkthroughs, and other game enhancements (called “prescriptions”) available for the Mac. Version 2.0 adds Mac OS X support, over 1000 prescriptions, over 100 exclusive game patches, as well as several other improvements. Game Doctor sells for US$10 ($5 upgrade).
