Pooch 1.3 builds on Rendezvous and multiprocessing

Dauger Research has shipped Pooch 1.3, the latest update to their Parallel OperatiOn and Control Heuristic cluster management software. Version 1.3 enables application writers to launch multiple parallel-computing tasks per node, automatically taking advantage of multiprocessor Macs and OS X’s preemptive multitasking. In addition, Pooch now uses Rendezvous, supplementing Service Location Protocol, to perform registration, discovery, and resolution of cluster nodes over local networks and the Internet.

Motorola reports profit in Q3

Motorola late yesterday announced its third quarter financial results. The company reported sales of US$6.4 billion with net earnings of $111 million, or $.05 per share, a 14 percent decrease in sales from $7.4 billion a year ago. The year-ago net loss was $1.4 billion, or ($.64) per share.
