Apple extends “X for Teachers” program to Canada

Apple today announced that it is extending the “X for Teachers” program to Canada. The program gives a free copy of Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) to every K-12 teacher in Canada. As with the U.S. “X for Teachers” program that was launched earlier this month, qualifying teachers will be provided with Mac OS X 10.2, Mac OS 9 for Classic support, and a Getting Started with Mac OS X Training CD — all without any cost to teachers for shipping, handling or postage.

“Dude, you’re getting an iPod”

Dell Computer has started selling Apple’s iPod, according to c|net. Dell will only carry the Windows versions of the iPod, with some models currently available for order by phone from Dell. Online sales are expected to start shortly. “Yep, Dell is reselling iPods,” Apple said in a statement. “We are delighted to offer our 5GB, 10GB and 20GB iPods for Windows through Dell’s direct retail channel.

Googie unveils SmartLap laptop stand

Googie Drives has introduced the SmartLap, a new laptop stand designed for use with the iBook and PowerBook. The stand lifts the laptop to the right ergonomic working position for easier use, and also gives more space on the desktop for a full-size keyboard and mouse.
