Archos today introduced the Jukebox Multimedia 20, a combination MP3 player and recorder, with photo and video viewing capability. The unit features a 20GB hard drive, a built-in 1.5″ Color LCD, built-in microphone, and an Expansion Connector that allows additional modules to be attached to the unit. The device measures less than 5 inches in its largest dimension, weighs 10 ounces, and comes with a standard USB 1.1 interface, with the ability to also use an optional USB 2.0, FireWire, or PC Card connection. Archos will sell the Jukebox Multimedia 20 base unit for US$399.95 next week, and will also offer a Photo Bundle, which includes the Base unit plus the Photo Module, which downloads images from CompactFlash cards or SmartMedia to the hard drive for viewing on the color LCD or on any TV, for $419.95. Additionally, a Camera Module that turns the unit into a digital camera and a Video Recorder Module that can record and playback MPEG4 quality videos from and to a TV will be available at a later date.
