Macromedia this evening announced that it has won its patent infringement countersuit against Adobe. The verdict included a damage award of US$4.9 million; Macromedia intends to ask the court to issue an injunction to stop Adobe’s infringement. Last week, Adobe received a favorable verdict in its patent infringement suit against Macromedia and was awarded $2.8 million in damages. Macromedia said it will appeal that verdict. “The score is now Adobe one, Macromedia one, customers zero,” said Rob Burgess, chairman and CEO of Macromedia said in a statement. “Macromedia is absolutely committed to defending the right to innovate.”
