A number of tech heavyweights released their quarterly earnings yesterday evening, including Microsoft, which narrowly missed estimates due primarily to weaker than expected sales of Office XP and its Xbox console; Sun, which posted a significant loss as revenues fell 25 percent from the year-ago quarter; eBay, which saw a 59 percent jump in revenues and expects to meet high-end forecasts for the remainder of the year; Gateway, which posted a loss of $61 million, meeting estimates; and Compaq, which edged out expectations with a $44 million profit but saw revenues decline 15 percent.
