ThinkFree Corporation has released ThinkFree Office 2.0, a new version of its server-based office productivity suite. The Java-based ThinkFree Office features word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications that are all compatible with Microsoft Office. New in version 2.0 is a public folder feature that allows multiple users to share and collaborate on documents, support for webDAV drive access (such as iDisk), support for animation in its presentation application, support for PowerPoint template files, and more.

4D has released WebSTAR 5.0.1, an update to its server software for Mac OS X that includes “a number of enhancements including improved 4D WebSTAR plug-in capabilities, Admin and Web server performance, and increased connectivity to 4D RDBMS.” A free demo of WebSTAR 5 is available; the software sells for US$399.

MenuCalendar 1.1a is a handy, free Mac OS X utility that places a pop-down calendar in the menu bar. The new version corrects a bug under Mac OS X 10.1.

Powerlogix has released G3/G4 Cache Profiler 1.5, a utility that offers an overview of your systems processor configuration that allows users to tweak cache performance and more. The new version adds support for Power PC 7410 G4 processors that are found on its iForce and BlueChip G4 upgrades.

MP3.com has published a glowing review of Apple’s iPod, awarding the device its highest rating. The site praises the iPod’s elegance, high-quality headphones, backlit LCD, and FireWire connectivity, although it found fault in the lack of an equalizer and missing carrying case or belt clip.
