An eWeek article discusses Motorola’s PowerPC G5 processor, as per the company’s PowerPC roadmap that was updated late last week. The article offers interesting insight into some of the technologies that the G5 will feature, as well as Motorola’s other PowerPC plans.

Palm has reduced the price of its m125 handheld from $249 to $199. The company attributes passing cost savings onto the customer for the reduction, although the overall weak market for handhelds is also a likely factor. Palm’s also dropped the discontinued (although still available) Vx from $249 to $199.

FirewireDirect.com has begun shipping its FireWire/USB 2.0 combo PCI card, which features three external FireWire ports, one internal FireWire port, and two external USB 2.0 ports. The card is available for $99.95.

Ligatur Design has released two fonts from its commercial collection—Superfuthark and TenSeven—as free downloads. Ligatur Design also offers a handful of free desktop pictures.

Carrying-case maker MARWARE will be bringing a neoprene case for Apple’s iPod to market, although further details will not be available until December 11. Additionally, the company recently improved its SportFolio (PowerBook G4) and SportFolio II (iBook) cases. The cases, available in black, blue and graphite, feature a rugged, high-tech neoprene construction with a built-in plastic shell for impact protection.
