With Microsoft’s launch of Windows XP today, Reuters has published an article that takes a look at the Mac/Windows debate and Apple’s current standing following many years of bitter turmoil with Microsoft. Apple’s Phil Schiller resigns from EarthLink Board

Phil Schiller , Apple VP of Worldwide Product Marketing, has resigned his position on EarthLink’s Board of Directors, the company announced today. Schiller made the decision so he could focus more on his duties at Apple. “EarthLink has greatly benefited from the important contributions made by Philip Schiller and his stewardship in guiding the company,” EarthLink CEO Garry Betty said in a statement.

iPod is a bargain, depending on how you look at it

While pundits may criticize the relatively high US$399 price tag of Apple’s iPod, it’s difficult to call the device’s value into question. The iPod’s 5GB drive is a tiny, 1.8-inch Toshiba drive that sells on its own (as a PCMCIA card) for $399 (although the MSRP is apparently $499). Similarly, SmartDisk’s tiny FireFly FireWire drive, which uses the same drive, will sell for $399 when it ships.
