PowerPC G5 reportedly hits 2.4GHz

The Register‘s sources at Motorola have informed the online publication that Motorola has managed to eek out at least a couple PowerPC 8500 (G5) processors at speeds of 2.4GHz. The article rightly points out, however, that Mac users shouldn’t count on seeing such high speeds in systems any time soon. The Register has previously speculated that Power Mac G5 systems could arrive at Macworld Expo in January with speeds of up to 1.6GHz.
