QPS made a number of announcements at Comdex yesterday, including three new DVD burners that feature both USB 2.0 and FireWire interfaces; a 32x CD-RW for USB 2.0 and FireWire; and a 120GB, 7200 RPM FireWire hard drive ($359).

VersionTracker notes the release of Norton Utilities 6.0.3, an update to its disk utility software that improves the File Saver feature and adds various other minor enhancements.

Insider Software has released FontAgent 8.7, an update to its font repair and management utility that improves Mac OS X performance, offers improved help, and the ability to handle larger font libraries. FontAgent 8.7 is available as a free download to licensed users; the software sells for US$69.95.

Keyspan yesterday introduced its new USB 2.0 PCMCIA card, which is set to ship on November 27 for US$99.

America Online has released a new Mac OS X beta client — version 18D — for its popular online service. The new version, available from within AOL at keyword “Beta,” provides a number of bug fixes and improvements, including the use of badges on the AOL icon in the Dock to indicate new e-mail and instant messages, improved support for very long screen names, and a working dialer under Mac OS X 10.0.x.
