ICQ today released ICQ Lite, a Java version of its messaging service that runs in a browser window, and ICQ 3.0X, a Mac OS X version of its client. ICQ 3.0X (product link not yet available), which is also compatible with Mac OS 8.6 and later, “contains features that were previously separately available to users of the two platforms, as well as key new features found in ICQ 2001b, such as the server-based contact lists.” ICQ debuted in 1996 and has since attracted some 115 million users.
