Sorenson Media today announced the availability of Sorenson Squeeze and Sorenson Video 3.1. Sorenson bills Squeeze as the first variable bit rate compression software for QuickTime 5 on Mac OS X, providing an easy, drag-and-drop interface users of any experience can learn quickly. Sorenson Video 3.1, meanwhile, is an update to the QuickTime codec that adds Mac OS X compatibility. Sorenson Squeeze is available at introductory price of US$149, half of its suggested retail price. The Sorenson Video 3.1 upgrade is available free of charge to 3.0 users, while other users can upgrade for $249. Sorenson Squeeze and Video 3.1 are also available together for $499.
