Apple’s new PowerBook G4 and iBook models, introduced today, ship with a new, square-shaped power adapter, which is backwards compatible with the older, “yo-yo” adapters. The adapter features built-in hooks to wrap the cord around (reminiscent of power adapters that came with some of the earliest PowerBook models), LED lights that display the charging status, and an AC cord that allows the PowerBook or iBook to be plugged into an outlet up to 12 feet. The AC cord can also be removed, allowing the adapter itself to be plugged into the wall for when such a long connection isn’t needed.
