Ultimate Web Monitoring Tool for the Ultimate Web Server

Tenon and Neuron Data Systems Partner to Give WebTen Automatic Server
Restart Capability

Santa Barbara, CA, July 6, 1998. Tenon Intersystems today announced the
availability of Neuron Data Systems’ MacCoach 2.0, a compact,
micro-processor-based ADB device that restarts a Mac after a stall or
crash. The MacCoach Automatic Server Restart device has the ability to
catch failures from any application, without the need for plug-in support
by the application being monitored. MacCoach 2.0 is being introduced at
Macworld in New York on July 8th by Neuron Data Systems. The retail price
of MacCoach is US$99. For a limited time only, WebTen customers can
purchase MacCoach directly from Tenon at the special price of $55.

MacCoach’s automatic restart capability reduces unscheduled down time to a
minimum by detecting every crash and automatically restarting your
computer, even in the face of crashes where standard keyboard sequences
fail to function. MacCoach also monitors all running applications without
the need for application-specific plug-in support. When an application
crashes, MacCoach can relaunch the offending application or restart the
system. “MacCoach works diligently in the background, monitoring your
system and fixing problems automatically to make sure you get the most out
of your Mac,” said Chris Niemeijer, CEO of Neuron Data Systems. Neuron Data
Systems’ MacCoach Automatic Server Restart device is being included by
Apple Computer Europe with every Macintosh G3 Server.

MacCoach includes a logging facility that provides a complete history of
monitoring activities and application crashes. The log file records what’s
happening on the system – the date, time, name of the offending application
and even the type of error caused by the application – showing system
managers exactly what went wrong and giving them the information they need
to correct the problem. The log file can be specified to be in HTML format,
allowing webmasters to check a MacCoach-protected server from anywhere in
the world.

By using a device driver to optmally monitor and control the system,
MacCoach provides tight integration with MacOS. This level of integration
is not possible with monitoring devices that operate simply as background
applications, such as Sophisticated Circuit’s Rebound device. MacCoach’s
advanced architecture, coupled with its logging capability and its ability
to monitor all running applications, without the need for participation on
the part of the application, makes MacCoach the ultimate monitoring device.
