FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DigiChat v1.1 Final Now Available
June 19, 1998 – ELS, Inc. and Digi-Net Technologies have announced the
official release of DigiChat(tm) version 1.1, a JAVA based client/server
chat product designed specifically for Web Presence Providers and
Educational or Corporate Webmasters. DigiChat’s state-of-the-art interface,
ease of installation, and simple administrative site management make it the
new standard for web-based chat.
“DigiChat is the only chat software that lets Internet Presence Providers
and Webmasters offer each of their clients the ability to host their own
customized, independent and private chat environment for their web sites,”
said Robert Parker, president of Digi-Net Technologies. “DigiChat features
an elegant interface that allows the chat screen to match the look and feel
of an individual web site, including the use of custom logos and scrolling
advertising banners. Because DigiChat is written in 100% Java(tm), it can
be installed on any platform and used by any Java enabled browser.”
“Every other chat product on the Internet restricts Webmasters to a design
dictated by the host,” Parker said. “DigiChat is the first chat solution
that can be fully customized and allows the Webmaster to maintain complete
control of the chat environment, including the ability to log each chat
session, ban users, add or change room names on the fly, use a site logo,
and customize user icons and ad banners.”
After purchasing and installing DigiChat, IPPs can begin offering DigiChat
as an attractive new service to their webmaster clients, or can use
DigiChat as a source of additional revenue.
DigiChat includes customizable advertising banners. The IPP can either
retain control of the banners for their own use or can offer the ad banner
space to their webmaster clients. Webmasters can then sell the ad space for
a fee. Ad content can be targeted to specific chat groups, making each
impression a valuable one. Chatters are a captive audience for the ads,
which cannot be bypassed.
“IPPs and Webmasters can use DigiChat in several ways,” said Mitchell
Martin, president of ELS, Inc. “They have the option of packaging this
private chat option with other services they provide and selling
advertising space in DigiChat’s customizable scrolling advertising banners.
Or, they can simply charge their clients a monthly fee for the chat hosting
capability. They can also combine the above options.”
“I have been checking DigiChat out for the past few days and am very
impressed. Kudos to you and your team for a stellar program.” said Cris
Mitchell, owner of Coastal Fog Productions, who evaluated DigiChat during
the beta testing period.
The feature-rich DigiChat includes the exclusive ChatGuardian(tm) text
screening capability that can block inappropriate language. Plus, DigiChat
is the only chat software that allows for private, independent chat rooms
for each web site, and there is no limit on the number of users. This
allows for the creation of virtual on-line communities, fostering an
environment for those with shared interests.
“I like how easy DigiChat is for me to use to communicate or just have
fun!” said Kevin Heflin, vice president of ShreveNet, Inc. “The
administrative and Chatmaster portions are easy to understand and follow. I
DigiChat is priced according to the number of web sites hosted. Pricing
