MDG Announces Free Updates to WS4D Product Family

announced the immediate availability of updates for the complete WS4D
Product Family for MacOS and Windows NT.
Sherlock Optimized
All Database published by WS4D are Sherlock accessible. This includes
Site-Search, Email-Search and all custom databases.
WS4D 2.0.2 has some specific Sherlock tracking features. The recent users
window will indicate if a database search is normal or Sherlock. All
Sherlock requests are logged into a text file. The WS4D Statistics Windows
will count the number of Sherlock requests handled.
Also, for those interested, MDG is hosting a popular Mailing List that
discusses the writing of Sherlock Plug-ins, (http://sherlock.mdg.com).
Also, MDG also has released Sherlock Plug-ins to access the Web Server 4D
Mailing Lists and MDG's Site-Search. These plug-ins can easily be modified
to work at any WS4D site.
Open Transport Native
Starting with Web Server 4D 2.0.2, we directly support NetTools by Core
Technologies
(http://www.coretechnologies.net). Using this product, WS4D is able to
become complete Open Transport native. If your server is running MacOS 8.1
or MacOS 8.5, your virtual domains can be mapped to different IP Address.
WS4D will also update the Secondary IP Address file for you automatically!
More Database Publishing Capabilities
The built-in database publishing features of Web Server 4D have been
expanded. WS4D Databases now support field verification (enter field twice
to confirm entry). WS4D Databases now support field length verification.
WS4D Databases can now add a single record over multiple pages.
More Tracking
WS4D has always provided database tracking of all your visitors and now
provides even more tracking. WS4D can tell you how many of your files are
served from Disk, WS4D Cache or Cached at the Browser. WS4D can also tell
you how many databases searches have been performed and even how many were
performed by Sherlock. WS4D will count the number of bad URLS, to inform
you when you may have an error in your HTML, pointing to a URL that doesn't
exist.
Free Upgrade
For anyone running Web Server 4D 1.7.4 - 2.0.1, WS4D 2.0.2 is a free
upgrade, $49 if running a versions before 1.7.4. WS4D/CGI 1.0.2 is a free
upgrade for anyone running WS4D 1.0. WS4D/Email-Search 1.0.2 is a free
upgrade for anyone running WS4D/Email-Search 1.0.
