FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

StoneTable Version 4.0 provides support for formulas and AppleEvents in Tables.

Portland, OR–Feb 22, 1999–StoneTablet Publishing today announced
the release of StoneTable Version 4.0. This release provides a major
step forward giving the Macintosh developer access to functionality
never before available on the Macintosh platform in a simple and easy
form for integration into their applications. Building upon an API
similar to that used by the List Manager, StoneTable now provides
nearly 250 functions and dozens of options (color, fonts, styles,
titles, grid lines, etc.) to the developer to display a wide range of
data (text, check boxes, pop up menus, twist down lists, application
defined data, etc.) in a simple and consistent way. Applications
using StoneTable provide their users a natural interface similar to
that found in major spreadsheet applications or other applications
that display data in tables.

These are just some of the improvements found in StoneTable Version 4.0.

– Ability to have formulas similar to those found in commercial
spreadsheet programs as part of tables (average, count, sum, +, -,
sqrt, etc.). Numbers and formulas may be edited directly in the
table. Individual formulas are computed only when necessary and may
refer to the results of other formulas. The application controls if
the formula is shown or the result of the formula.

– Ability to process AppleEvents to manipulate tables and data within
the table. A wide range of operations (set, get, make, cut, copy,
paste, exists, select, sort, etc.) and ways to reference cells (A1,
R1C1, cell 2 thru 5 of column 2, every Cell of Table 1 in window 1
where it starts with “7”, etc.) are available.

– Building upon the existing ability to interchange data with other
applications through drag and drop, the ability to save and restore
data to and from tab delimited files has been added. The application
may also save and restore complete tables in an internal format (to
files or memory) so that all data, titles, and formatting information
will be saved and restored.

– Optional support for the Appearance Manager giving tables an
appearance similar to that found in the Finder list view.

– 3 sets of libraries are provided with different subsets of
StoneTable functions so that the developer will not have to inflate
the size of the application with a large library when only the basic
functionality is required.

StoneTable has been used by developers worldwide since 1992 and is
the standard for displaying tables from within applications. It may
be used within Metrowerks CodeWarrior C/C++ or Pascal applications or
with PowerPlant using a provided class similar to the PowerPlant
LTable class. A comprehensive manual is provided along with sample
applications and source snippets.

StoneTable Version 4.0 is available for $200.00 (which is the same
price of prior versions) directly from StoneTablet Publishing or from
DevDepot.
