DIGITAL PRAIRIE ANNOUNCES SMARTMAP VERSION 1.1
NEW VERSION ADDS MORE FEATURES, IMPROVES COMPATIBILITY

La Grange, IL — July 15, 1997 — Digital Prairie, Inc. announces the
immediate availability of version 1.1 of its first WebSTAR plug-in,
SmartMap. SmartMap is the best W*API imagemap plug-in available. It
supports both CERN and NCSA-format imagemaps, and can convert existing
server-side imagemaps to client-side imagemaps automatically!

New features of SmartMap 1.1 include:

– Reads extra (AREA) attributes from map file comments This really cool
feature allows you to include extra attributes for client-side imagemap
(AREA) tags in the comments of your server-side “.map” files, and SmartMap
will insert them automatically. Now your SmartMap-converted client-side
imagemaps can contain JavaScript handlers and specify target frames!

– “SMARTMAP-FILTER” action supports PIXO SmartMap’s imagemap conversion now
supports the PIXO inter-plugin communication standard. Previously, the
SMARTMAP-FILTER action was of limited usefulness because it precluded the
use of other plug-ins. Now SmartMap can translate imagemaps in HTML
processed by other PIXO-enabled plug-ins such as NetCloak, Tango, or
FireSite.

– User-configurable translation method With this release, the web server
administrator can now decide whether SmartMap will use HTTP redirection
(slower but more compatible) or will filter HTTP requests (faster but less
compatible).

– No longer relies on QuickDraw

– Smarter NCSA circle hotspot support

– Bug fixes

SMARTMAP SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS, PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

SmartMap 1.1 is a fat WebSTAR-API version 1.1 plug-in, which means it works
with any MacOS web server that supports W*API 1.1, including WebSTAR(TM)
versions 1.3.2 or greater.

A two-hour demo version of SmartMap is immediately available for download
from Digital Prairie’s web site at
(http://www.digitalprairie.com/dp/products/smartmap/), and will soon be
available via Info-Mac archives and DOWNLOAD.COM. After evaluating the
software, Digital Prairie asks that you pay the $20 shareware fee and
register with us. Registration eliminates the two-hour time limit and
removes registration notices from the software. Registered users of
previous versions of SmartMap may use their existing registration codes
with the new version.
