DevDepot NOW CARRIES APPLE BRANDED PRODUCT

Westlake Village, CA -- December 11, 1996 -- Xplain Corporation, the parent
company of DevDepot(tm), today announced that it now carries some of
the most popular Apple-branded development tools.

Until today, many of Apple's developer tools have been sold to US customers
exclusively through the Apple Developer Catalog (formerly APDA). Now,
MacOS developers have another option -- DevDepot.

For years, Apple has produced great tools like Apple Dylan, Apple Media
Tool Programming Environment, AppleScript, Newton Toolkit, QuickTime SDK,
and more. Products like these will now be available through Developer
Depot -- a first for the MacOS developer community.

"Increasing the distribution of Apple label tools, is an example of how
Apple is trying to work with the developer community to promote the MacOS
platform." said Jonathan Fader, Director, Developer Marketing. "Xplain
Corp., with it's divisions of DevDepot and MacTech Magazine, have
been strong supporters of the Mac since 1984. With DevDepot's MacOS
development tool focus, they are a natural extension to Apple's current
efforts."

"Apple is focusing on how to help Mac developers -- helping them develop
and market products as well as listening to their needs." said Neil
Ticktin, CEO of Xplain Corporation (DevDepot's parent company).
"Apple is also looking at how to get more people developing for the MacOS.
In this spirit, getting more tools to more developers through other means
like DevDepot makes perfect sense. The developer community has
never had so much going on at once -- and this is just another way to help
developers get the job done!"

DevDepot comprises two complementary units: An extensive, full
color catalog (also included at the back of MacTech Magazine) updated
monthly, and a dedicated world wide web site (http://www.devdepot.com).
Designed to provide the convenience of online automated shopping with the
traditional feel of good old-fashioned catalog browsing, DevDepot
will also feature:

* an 800 number (800-MACDEV-1) for US and Canadian customers
* customer satisfaction guaranteed
* lowest price guaranteed
* world renowned customer service

Developers and programmers will enjoy the vast selection of software,
books, CD-ROMs and more -- all at unbeatable low prices! The Web site in
particular, will include hundreds of products, all prominently featured
with full descriptions and photos (where applicable).

In addition, DevDepot customers will be glad to know that orders can
be placed by phone (800-622-3381, or 805-494-9797 outside the U.S./Canada),
Fax (805-494-9798), e-mail (orders@devdepot.com), through a detachable
order form in the catalog, or directly via credit card with a convenient
virtual shopping basket in the Web site.
