An analysis by Horace Dediu at Asymco (http://www.asymco.com) shows that store revenue at Apple was about US$320,000 in the first three quarters of this year. A company like J.C. Penney Co., on the other hand, brings in about $124,000 per employee per year.

Dediu said revenue per visit at an Apple Store is about $45. And there are 250 million such visit per year. Already in the first three quarters of 2011, there have been 222 million visits.

“If a typical employee sees six visitors per hour, that works out to $45 X 6 = $270 per hour, and since Dediu figures they actually make just a bit over $45 per visit, he bumped the final figure up to $278,” notes the “BusinessCourier” (http://macte.ch/nAs48).
