The Skype for iPad app has arrived. You can use the free app in either landscape or portrait view. Because it is on the iPad, Skype video calls can be made at the beach, in a car or even lying on a couch.

MyNature has announced MyNature Fishing Knots 1.0 for iOS, a reference tool
instructions. Including the 13 knots most commonly used today in fishing, the US$0.99 app’s continuous, realistic animations can be stopped at any time, studied, and then restarted. There are four chapters, each with text, illustrations, and an animation: Tie Line to a Reel, Tie Line to a Hook, Join Two Lines, and Tie a Loop.

Apperture has released Where Am I? 1.0, a free photo-sharing game for iOS devices.Share a photo of your location with your Facebook friends and have them try and guess where you’re at.

Kuyi Mobile has introduced The Minis: Smartypants Test 1.0, its fourth minigame installment for the iPhone and iPod touch. The free app lets you be “a certified smartypants by acing tricky challenges, one after another, as you make your way from being a mere microorganism to becoming a full fledged smartypants.”

Holderness Media has launched The Landwhale 1.0 for iPhone devices. The free app features tracks from The Landwhale’s self-titled EP, as well as three bonus tracks featured in the brand new game “Dawjuh Ball” for iOS and Mac OS X. Additionally, users can remix and rearrange two songs by The Landwhale by triggering loops and samples from each song.

Fine Mechanics has debuted MediTimer 1.0 for the iPad. It’s a $2.99 balanced set of instruments “that render your meditation more effective and useful as well as make it easier to make it your practice, if you so desire.” MediTimer features a variety of over 40 functions. The key aspects controlled by the program are monitoring your position, breathing, thoughts and practicing as well as reminders about upcoming sessions.

LiveHappy.ie has created Relax with Dr Elaine Ryan 1.0, a $2.99 relaxation app developed exclusively for iOS devices. It’s designed to induce deep relaxation. There’s a choice of two guided relaxation exercises to encourage your body to relax, with no effort on your part: just listen. The app also includes nature sounds and time lapse photography that can be used independently during the commute to work or school.

KneeBouncers has published Who Says Moo?, an US$2.99 interactive ebook that invites toddlers to explore a variety of animals on a farm and discover the sounds they make.

Achievers Writing Center by Niles Technology Group, brings a full-service writing center to a student’s mobile device. Complete with live writing assistants and editing services, the $26.99 app is designed to take the tediousness out of writing and deliver a mobile learning experience.

ApeFlip is a new, free 3D action game that’s connected to the biggest mobile social game platform, OpenFeint. As the player scores points and climbs up the OpenFeint leaderboard, the Ape’s skin changes as the character “evolves.” The game uses progressive 3D design and a multi-platform system and was developed using the game development tool, Unity.

Nuance Communications has rolled out PaperPort Anywhere, a new cloud-based service that lets you organize, access and share documents from nearly any computer and mobile device. It lets users manage and access their documents in the cloud using web browsers, as well as using free apps from Nuance for Apple and Android mobile devices.
