Orbicule has announced Undercover 4 (http://orbicule.com/undercover/mac), an upgrade to their theft-recovery software for Mac OS X. The new version offers users the ability to remotely monitor a stolen Mac using the UndercoverCenter.com web application.

Thanks to the new UndercoverCenter, users can follow their stolen Mac in real-time. They can view iSight pictures of the thief, they can see what he’s doing on their stolen Mac, and they receive a Google Earth file pinpointing the stolen Mac’s locations. In addition, they can use UndercoverCenter to completely lock the lost or stolen Mac and set a custom message that is displayed on top of all other applications.

Because the mobile version of Undercover uses the same UndercoverCenter web app, users can manage all their Macs, iPhones, iPads and iPod touches in one, convenient place, says Orbicule President Peter Schols.

Undercover requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher. It costs US$49 for a single user license and $59 to protect an entire household of up to five Macs. Student and volume discounts are available, as well. Version 4 is a free upgrade for all registered Undercover users.
