Canon (http://www.usa.canon.com) has introduced two new multifunction
models, the Pixma MP480 and Pixma MP190 Photo All-In-One (AIO)
printers and three new color scanners.
The the PIXMA MP480 Photo All-In-One is equipped with a 1.8-inch TFT
color LCD display and control pane. Canon has included Auto Photo Fix
and Auto Scan Mode features, reducing the steps necessary to print a
photo or capture a scan. Auto Photo Fix, with Easy-PhotoPrint EX
software, automatically detects the type of photo being printed —
portrait or scenery — and helps to correct red eye, facial tones,
brightness, contrast and color saturation.
The Pixma MP480 AIO also provides Auto Scan Mode, which detects the
type of document being scanned — photo, post card, business card,
magazine, newspaper, document, etc. — and automatically crops and
saves files to PDF or JPEG format, based on image type.
The MP480 is capable of text print speeds of up to 20
pages-per-minute (ppm) in black and up to 16 ppm in color, and
delivers 4 x 6 inch borderless prints in approximately 45 seconds.
The MP480 Photo All-In-One will also feature an optional Bluetooth
wireless connection for sending images to the printer. The estimated
selling price for the Pixma MP480 Photo All-In-One is US$99.99, and
the BU-30 Bluetooth adapter has an estimated selling price of $49.99.
Aimed at the more economically minded consumer, the Pixma MP190 Photo
All-In-One features a maximum of 4800 x 1200 dpi color resolutio4,
and a minimum two-picoliter droplet size. Text printing speeds are up
to 19 ppm for black and up to 15 ppm for color. The printer also
delivers 4 x 6 inch borderless prints in approximately 70 seconds.
Additional features include the Advanced Z-Lid expansion top allowing
users to place bulkier books or small 3-D objects for scanning on the
platen glass and holds them down for a more clear copy or scan. The
estimated selling price for the Canon MP190 Photo All-In-One is
$69.99.
The three new color image scanners joining the Canon CanoScan line-up
are the CanoScan 5600F, CanoScan LiDE200 and CanoScan LiDE100. All
have the new Auto Scan Mode that allows for the scanner to recognize
the type of document when the new dedicated Scan button is pressed,
then scan and save the document with the suitable settings
automatically. Consumers will no longer have to determine and select
settings such as the document type, resolution or preview and crop
images.
What’s more, by adopting Dual Color Gamut Processing Technology, the
image processing workflow matches the color tones between the
original and scanned images for a more accurate reproduction,
according to Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general
manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A. The inclusion of seven
EZ Buttons on the CanoScan 5600F Color Image Scanner and four on the
CanoScan LiDE200 and LiDE100 Color Image Scanners enables consumers
to copy, scan, e-mail or create a PDF file with just one push of a
button.
The CanoScan 5600F Color Image Scanner provides the ability to scan
up to six frames of a 35mm filmstrip or four 35mm slides at a maximum
optical resolution of 4800 x 9600 dpi. Consumers can start to scan in
their favorite photos or documents once the scanner is powered on due
to the inclusion of a white LED, which eliminates warm-up time while
decreasing overall power consumption. The scanner lets you use Quick
and Automatic Retouching and Enhancement (QARE) Level 3 technology,
which aids in automatic dust, scratch, fading and graininess
reduction.
The CanoScan 5600F Color Image Scanner also has the ability to scan
letter-sized color documents at a resolution of 300 dpi in
approximately 11 seconds. It’s designed with a built-in power source,
an easier to open document cover and internally wired FAU cable. The
estimated selling price for the CanoScan 5600F Color Image Scanner is
$149.99.3
The CanoScan LiDE200 and LiDE100 Color Image Scanners use a Contact
Image Sensor (CIS). the former has a maximum optical resolution of
4800 x 4800 dpi while the latter has a maximum optical resolution of
2400 x 4800 dpi. For both color image scanners, only one USB 2.0
high-speed cable is necessary for connecting to a computer and
providing the necessary power.
The QARE Level 3 technology, used with the CanoScan 5600F Color Image
Scanner, is used for both of these scanners as well. With the
enhanced PDF function, bulky documents can be filed and letter-sized
color documents can be scanned on the CanoScan LiDE200 in
approximately 14 seconds, while on the CanoScan LiDE100 the scan can
be completed in approximately 24 seconds at a resolution of 300
dpi. The estimated selling price of the CanoScan LiDE200 Color Image
Scanner is $89.99 and $59.99 for the CanoScan LiDE100 Color Image
