PC-Mac-Net FileShare v6.1

PC-Mac-Net FileShare v6.1 Adds Multi-Destination Encrypted Network
Backup for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux

ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA — August 1, 2006 — Lava Software is now
shipping PC-Mac-Net FileShare v6.1, a fast and efficient file
sharing, data backup and remote media player product. New backup
features provide simple and secure file backup through a unique
mixture of data encryption, multi-destination storage of backup data
on networked computers, and ‘Clues2Key’ encryption key recovery.
Typical applications include home and office file backups, automatic
daily backups of laptops to a home server when users return home, and
secure remote backup of laptops via Wi-Fi when on the road. Versions
are available for Windows, Mac OS X, Mac OS Classic and Linux.

This new version offers incremental backup to local hard disk,
incremental backup over LAN or Internet to one or more destination
computers (thus providing on and offsite redundancy), up to 256-bit
AES encryption of remotely stored backup files, email notification of
backup plan execution, pre-backup and post-backup script support,
automatic MD5 digital signature verification of backup files to
ensure file integrity, automatic launch on startup/login, queuing of
automatic backups when offline, greatly increased file backup speed,
significantly reduced CPU utilization, an activity list showing all
backups and restores, and support for inexpensive Linux-based home
backup/media servers. It is a free upgrade for all users.

On all platforms, backup files which are subsequently restored are
identical to the original backed up file, including creation and
modification dates, Mac OS type/creator information, etc. File
contents are also verified by automatic MD5 digital signature checks,
ensuring no corruption has occurred in any stage of storage or
transmission. During backups to networked Windows and Linux
computers, Mac OS files with data and resource forks are correctly
stored. Files can be encrypted using standard literal hexadecimal
keys, or using an innovative new encryption key system called
‘Clues2Key’, which allows secure data recovery even if the original
encryption key is lost.

The free Lite Edition of PC-Mac-Net FileShare can be downloaded now
from http://www.lavasoftware.com. Prices for the Standard and
Professional Editions start at USD14.95 per computer, with discounts
for larger pack sizes. The Lite Edition has file transfer size, data
backup and media playback limits, and only allows 3 users per
workgroup. The Mac OS Classic version offers file transfer and remote
folder sync only. Integration of PC-Mac-Net FileShare is available to
Internet storage service providers, ISPs and ISVs. VARs and
affiliates welcomed.
