Canto Releases Cumulus 6.6 Product Suite

Canto Releases Cumulus 6.6 Product Suite

Product Line now includes Enterprise-level Solutions

July 25, 2005 — San Francisco, Berlin. Canto, a global leader in Digital
Asset Management (DAM) solutions, today announced Cumulus 6.6,
incorporating an array of security enhancements essential for protecting
and safeguarding brands and assets. At the same time, the existing
workgroup-level Cumulus Server Solutions have been enhanced and new
enterprise-level Cumulus Server Solutions are being introduced.

“I truly can’t see how any design group can function without a digital
asset management system,” said Richard Williams, Web Producer at Jafra
Cosmetics International. “Cumulus provides us with great flexibility in
customization and integration, and the new control features in version 6.6
will improve our workflow even more.”

The Cumulus 6.6 Server Solutions offer powerful version control features
including the ability to save all versions of an asset ensuring that
complete revision history is always available and version control is
guaranteed. With check-in/check-out functionality, Cumulus 6.6 lets only
one person at a time work on a file, yet allows others read-only access to
previously saved work for transparent and efficient workflow. Asset
security is enhanced by assigning permissions for checking out to specific
users in connection with specific catalogs. Centralized access streamlines
workflow by automatically accumulating assets in one safe, central and
managed location ensuring complete cross-platform compatibility.

Cumulus 6.6 now also allows the use of FTP servers providing a central and
platform independent reference point for enterprise-wide usage of assets.
Cataloging and accessing files stored on FTP servers allows global access
to assets via standard internet protocols.

Users will benefit from the ability to automatically read metadata from RAW
files generated by more than 80 digital camera models and supports XMP
sidecars. Working with images is easier with the Pixel Image Converter
enhanced to support a “Bounding Box”, allowing a number of images to be
rendered to the same user-defined size without any distortions.

“Cumulus 6.6 is packed with workflow and security features that cater to
the needs of small, medium and large enterprises,” said Ulrich Knocke,
CantoZs Senior Product Manager. “Organizations are recognizing that
workflow and secure handling of assets are integral to brand protection.
Canto is making it easy for them to live up to that demand.”

Canto has reorganized its server product line to offer three different
solutions for enterprises and workgroups. While the Workgroup Server Family
manages and archives all types of digital assets, the Enterprise Server
Family offers advanced functionality and superior security including users
and roles management and live filtering.
