Lenovo acquires IBM’s PC business

As previously speculated, China’s Lenovo has signed an agreement to acquire IBM’s PC business for US$1.25 billion in cash and will assume debt, which will bring the total cost to $1.75 billion, reports InfoWorld. “IBM and Lenovo said customers will see no change in product availability and support, either while the deal is being completed or afterward, while the PC operations of the two companies are integrated. Beyond the integration, the impact is of the deal is less clear,” notes the story. The deal now awaits the approval of Lenovo shareholders and regulatory authorities.
