Steve Jobs: No plans for Apple tablet or PDA

At the D: All Things Digital conference last week, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said that his company has no plans to introduce a tablet Mac or Apple branded PDA, according to MacUser UK: “Jobs said that Apple had taken a look at the tablet — a notebook computer into which data can be entered by writing or drawing on the screen — and thinks it is going to fail. Tablets appeal to rich guys with plenty of other devices already, said Jobs, ‘and people accuse us of niche markets.’ In a similar vein Jobs said that Apple, despite a lot of pressure, was not going to do a PDA. Instead it will continue to focus on the phone as the future of mobile communications.”
