eWeek: Mac OS X ‘Panther’ expected in September

The next major revision to Mac OS X, dubbed “Panther,” will reach end users in mid-September, according to eWeek. “According to sources familiar with the forthcoming revisions to the Unix-based OS, Apple will freeze development on new features in May and finalize enhancements to the user interface in July,” writes Matthew Rothenberg. “Apple has been terse about enhancements that will appear in the new OS, although sources said Panther will include significant new GUI features.” Apple will show a preview release of Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference, which recently got moved back from May to June.
